In 2020, BNP Paribas received authorisation by the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to establish a Full Commercial and Investment Banking Branch, and become an authorised Dealer in Foreign Exchange.
In 2013, BNP Paribas received additional authorisations including a Financial Service Provider (FSP) License issued by the Financial Sector conduct Authority (FSCA) in terms of the (Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act FSP 44610. All products approved for the branch can be found on the FSCA website. In July 2014, BNP Paribas also became a clearing member of South African Multiple Option Settlement (SAMOS), which is an automated interbank settlement system provided by the South African Reserve Bank.
In South Africa, BNP Paribas offer Corporate & Institutional Banking and Investment Solutions services. The branch also serves as a regional hub for BNP Paribas operations in the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
